Chapeltown's longest-standing cultural institution, the Leeds Caribbean and African Centre anchors the community with live performances, sound system nights, club events and gatherings ranging from reggae shows to soul all-dayers. Founded in 1983 during heightened racial tensions, it has evolved into a welcoming space for weddings, christenings and celebrations whilst remaining a vital social hub, recently rebranded to reflect both its Caribbean heritage and growing African communities.
