About
A historic music hall opened in 1897 and one of only three surviving theatres designed by Ernest Runtz, The Middlesbrough Empire now operates as Middlesbrough's main nightclub and live venue across three floors. Hosting everything from house and reggae nights to live rock performances and 80s nostalgia events, it retains its original proscenium arch stage and balconies whilst boasting state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems installed during a major Arts Council-backed refurbishment.
