XLR is a forward-thinking basement music venue in Withington that pioneered the UK's first fully licensed bring-your-own-booze concept for nightclubs. Punters pay a modest entry fee (between 10 and 20 pounds depending on the line-up) and can bring their own alcohol to consume during the night, with safe storage lockers provided behind the bar. The venue hosts a diverse range of electronic music events spanning garage, house, UK garage, drum and bass, and other dance music styles, operating Tuesday to Saturday from 10pm to 2am.
